Here's a little preview:
For the past two years I have done summer
projects where each night I take photographs and in the process, I learn
something new about photo techniques, editing tools, and different styles.
While this year is the summer before my senior year, I have decided to
incorporate a purpose in my photographs. This summer I have decided to dedicate
my life to art; however, art with a meaning. For the next seventy-seven days I
will post photographs that will allow me to develop my skills and each day
there will be a caption of what I am thankful for in life. Additionally, each
week I will post a photograph that will bring awareness of an issue that is occurring
somewhere within the one hundred ninety six countries in this world. Many say
that a photograph can capture a thousand words; however, I will try my best to
manifest the reality that we fail to see as I will try to evoke an individual
to feel a sense of emotion; whether one feels sadness, remorse, or a sense of
connection.
Though many can argue that I am
very young and have experienced very little of life, I can truly say that life
is unfair. While I am sitting in a house, with a roof, food to eat, water to
drink, air condition, a television, a computer, internet, and etc. somewhere in
this world a child is undergoing hunger, thirst, poverty, and/or is being
forced into labor. Now don’t get me wrong, I am very thankful for the life I
have been given and I would not go back in time to change anything; however,
there is a huge part of me that cannot neglect how much I take simple things
for granted. In addition to bringing awareness of occurring problems, I hope to
allow people to embrace their life and not want to waste another moment
complaining about how life is unfair because their mom won’t let them go to the
movies or because they want pizza instead of vegetables.
For change to occur, change starts with you! One must acknowledge their surroundings and want to take initiation to bring about change.
