Perception is the key of EVERYTHING!
So today in English class my group finally presented our research about deconstruction. Deconstruction is pretty mind blowing, figuratively speaking and it will literally make your mind explode because of its complexity. A poem has opened my eyes and I think I mentioned it on here a couple days ago but after doing tonights homework my mind is going crazy! So basically Lao Tzu wrote a poem that illustrates life through binary oppositions which make up a whole. I can't find the poem, sorry, but it went a little something like "No good without evil, no beauty without ugliness, being and non-being, high, low, tall, short, beginning end, two sides of the same coin" Not the exact words but it completely amazes me how life is made of positive energy and negative energy. You determine how you live, if you are in a terrible mood, most likely I am pretty sure you will perceive the world through a depressing set of lens that is a bit foggy and cracked; however, if you look look at the positive aspects of life, you will be able to embrace the simplicity in life. Sound familiar? I say this a lot but hey, I am really interested in deconstruction right now. Anyways, off track, tonight we had to read The Study of History by Frank O'Connor. The main character, Larry, is fascinated by the stories his parents tell him about their history. Larry begins to create alternate scenarios of how his life could have been if his mom married someone else or if his dad married someone else. Basically I have no idea what surprising twist is coming at me for tomorrow so I am really looking forward to class tomorrow. I was told not to research the story, so therefore I have no idea if my interpretation is correct; however, I am pretty sure the true meaning is going to be pretty amazing since my teachers wants us to wait for class discussion. Pretty much to sum it all up, life gives us many different roads and paths to take, each route will take us somewhere different, we have no idea where or what is on the other side of the street and while we can fix mistakes we cannot go back in time and change what has already been done. "What's done is done" (Shakespeare Lady Macbeth) see what I did there? Anyways appreciate life how it is, you can't change the past but you can do something to change the future.
